Bush Medicine Leaves
‘Leaves are collected from the Kurrajong tree when they are green and put out in the sun to get dried. They are boiled in a bucket then you can wash your body with it. The leaves are good for flu, backaches and headaches. The leaves have an iridescent look as the oil comes out of the leaves and they are swirling in the water’
This style of artwork was first done by Gloria Petyarre who is famous for the Leaf paintings. Gloria’s art is in the collections of museums, galleries and private investors. Gloria has given other members of her family permission to paint her story.
